Readership And Publicity

Readership Publicity

Imagine you are the editor of this magazine. Make a list of five possible sections/ articles that could be presented in this publication.

There could be the following sections: Studies, Regulars, News, Extras and Reviews.

Explain the contents of each section, with specific details on why you think these sections would satisfy the target reader.

Under the heading Studies will contend of a sub heading of History & Culture. History & Culture will consist of the history and culture of r&b and slow jams. The article will include key dates and significant periods that relate to r&b and slow jams. Also could possibly reveal the undermine of how and why the genre is apart of our society today.

Under the heading Regulars will contend of a sub heading of Music Releases. Music Releases will consist of artist of the week. This will be a print of the name of the artist and the name of their song release that the public have voted 'best' that week. This print will also include where the artist is positioned on the charts.

Under the heading News will contend of a sub heading of Exclusive Interview. The exclusive Interview will consist of a famous artist being interviewed by either the press or a reporter. The section will have a list of questions and answers the artist will respond to and will be placed beneath, neatly in full detailed.

Under the heading Extras will contend of a sub heading of Events. Events will consist of Gigs & Concerts that are on offer to attend to and be apart of as an experience. Also an other sub heading will be named as Competitions. Competitions will reveal all the offers and opportunities out there to win from. And will be encouraged to take part in.

What Possible Layout, Language and overall Style of magazine would suit this content and  readership do you think? Compare to other music music publications you are familiar with.

I would have a layout that would need to stand out and catch the readers interest and attention but also at the same time be simple and uncomplicated. So I intend to avoid extravagant and exaggerated designs. The layout would need features of a music magazine. And Conventions such as music identities and propositions. This will explore the theme and genre of R&B and slow jams.

The language that would be used in my magazine to interact with its audience will be a combination of Colloquial and Expletive language. This will imply the theme of the urban style magazine.

Imagine you are the advertising executive on this magazine. What companies would you send this reader profile to in the hope of generating some advertising deals? Explain your decisions.

If I was a adverting executive I will contact sports retail stores such as JD and foot locker because it is the most known sports wear to this specific generation so if there products were to appear in my magazine young people may be inspired to my product in keeping the fondly trend. Also I would contact WH Smith because they are a major entertainment publicity in Britain in advertising music, technology and scriptures.

Target Audience Profile

This is my target audience reader profile I have created. The slide consist of images that relate to my reader profile, almost like telling a story, but rather then in sentences I've used pictures. And also a mini story that explains what Tia & Jay spend their everyday life doing.

Front Cover Representations

This is a front cover representation of Vibe magazine and WordUp magazine. The representations features all possible conventions that makes a standard and selling magazines.

Article Intergration

Using Adobe InDesgin, I placed text over an image. This is another way of using text integration. This gives any news text a professional look. And therfore i plan to use this feature in my music magazine.

Mode of Address

Mode of Address

Mode of address is the in which we communicate to an audience. The different types of modes are first person, third person, formal and informal. An obvious feature that connotes the address is colloquial and expletive. Colloquial language are words the younger generation use and is comfortable in relation to one another. Slang words - more or less. And expletive language is foul and inappropriate language. Words that are bad minded and are explicit to young children and should not be said around kids.

Most text in magazines can be written in 1st person, 2nd and 3rd
1s person is using words such as ‘I’, its they way you would write a diary.
2nd person is you talking about someone or describing someone words such as ‘WE, HE, SHE, CHRIS WENT TO THE SHOP’
3RD person is when you explain what someone has done e.g. ‘They, The band’
In an informal mode you would see a lot on slang words presented, it would be very chatty. Slang is used to differentiate people from what that person might say. Most older people don’t know slang which separates the audience.

You are expected to see colloquial and expletive language in an informal mode because the type of approach they are presenting to their readers. In every music magazine the genre, target audience and format influences the choices of a mode address.

Text and Image Integration

This is an example of using a path in photoshop to make the text follow a certain shape. I drew a path using the pen tool to wrap the text around the image.

Introduction

Hey, my name is Temi Adeuya and I am currently studying AS Media Studies at La Swap sixth form.

I enjoy listening to music no matter what genre it is; I’m an open minded girl to new styles..
However I do have a strong interest in R&B, old skl and slow jams because I personally feel that type of style portrayed is a lot more than rhyme, beats, time period and tempo.
I also enjoy watching movies and playing sports.
I have a passion for acting, dancing & singing, and love going to see performances and being a partaker of them myself. I'm studying Media Studies because I feel the industry has such huge significant to our individual lives in our everyday lives.

The purpose of my blog is to display my coursework electronically so it's more convenient for my teacher to assess and also it will be helpful to record the process of the creation of my music magazine. This blog will visually account all the evidence I have in expressing my progress in media.
