The 'AJ' background inspired me to use it in my magazine because its something uniqe. The magazine i originally saw it from was 'Vibe' magazine.

The double page spread above is an article of Solange published by 'Vibe' magazine again. I have taken some features of this and have applied it to my own magazine.

Double Page Spread Article

Four days before the most exciting and most talked about day of the year, which is celebrated all around the world. This day is known as ‘Christmas Day’. An eventful/unforgettable experience happened to me. I came across a group of young talented boys, also accompanied by some girls, showing off their lyrical ability skills of what they are passionate about, which is ‘Music’. Music is the way these youngsters express their feelings and pour out to other people who are just like them as well.

A bright light was shown down through the alleyway, almost signifying a sign or even a revelation for me to follow it up and see what was there. As I followed the light, through where it came from, it lead me to a huddled crowd, where it centred me to an entire people pouring out their hearts through the words that came out their mouth. Whilst I was there, it drew to my attention that one of the youngsters that were performing with the most emotion was my brother and for me to be even more convinced; someone in the crowd shouted out ‘Wayne’ and everyone was chanting with excitement and encouraging him to continue. Does this really suggest that people really like him for who he is or they like what he is rapping about? That was the question that popped into my head.

After I heard his name, I forced myself to get to the front of the crowd and see with my own eyes his real talent, after hearing what these people have being chanting about, seeing that he has always wanted to be a rapper or at least an underground rapper and then make it big in the music industry. Only that night, when everyone dispersed into the distance, he approached me and put his arm round my waist and opened up to me, due to the fact that I’m not always there for him when it mattered because I’m always busy. As we were walking home, we discussed things, which made me believe I’ve departed away from him when he needed me the most, a tear came and strolled down my left cheek, almost like a rain drop that has peacefully landed to the floor. Wayne looked at me, with such an ease in his eyes, he then later comforted me, as to say he has forgiven me for not performing my role as his big sister. As our conversation progressed, Wayne confessed to me that he had been involved in drug dealing. This crushed my heart, that left me speechless and most of all disappointed. I’m not saying Wayne wasn’t a ‘bright kid’, but he just never took education seriously and this was part of what caused his downfall and introduction to the life of drug dealing. However, he knew family was much more important but they never seemed to be there when he needed them, this he never took to heart. Least I forget I’ve also got a younger sister named Sarah. She’s as honest as an angel sent from heaven. Although this might sound exaggerated, I’m only describing her in a way anyone else would.

With Wayne, Sarah and I not being close the way we use to be back when we was younger, we all knew the love we had for each other would never fade nor die, no matter what happens. This almost foreshadows what was going to happen to Wayne on our journey home. The street we walked that very day, the 21st of December 1996 had been seemingly quiet, we felt we was being watched and we could also sense that something bad was about to happen to either both of us or one of us, but praying nothing would happen to none of us.
BANG! BANG! BANG! A loud scream followed after the shooting. The next thing I could feel and see was blood gushing out of Wayne like a stream of water and slowly he’s eyes started shutting. However, I had no power within me to stop him from going away, due to the fact that having lost so much blood. Before his eyes finally shut, he told me to achieve his dreams for him or at least start it and if by any chance, be a magazine editor, so I’d be able to spread the word of music to others and also in some form, share his story.
